What makes a perfect language school?
We believe there are three main ingredients to making the perfect language school:
1. Using a communicative approach to language studies that allows students to use newly acquired material immediately in their daily lives,
2. Learning about the cultural background of the country and its people, and
3. Having a strong community that motivates both students and teachers by encouraging curiosity and learning both inside and outside the classroom.
How do we achieve this?
Using a communicative approach, our classes are focused above all on speaking and listening. We choose topics and vocabulary that are relevant to our daily lives. Our teachers constantly develop new methods to help students speak more in the classroom, so that when they step out into the real world, they are comfortable using Chinese.
We also create the environment and organize opportunities for students to engage with Chinese culture outside the classroom. We play popular Chinese music during breaks, host movie screenings and introduce the cultural background of the films, teach people how to play popular games, organize dinners to local restaurants, lead trips to wild Great Wall, and much, much more.
As a community serious about studying the language, we organize activities for students and teachers to get to know each other and study together. We have a WeChat group for all members to ask questions and share knowledge about Chinese language and culture, and we host monthly competitions with really awesome prizes.
We are more than just a language school…
From the group of Israeli university students to the retired Belgian banker, people come to Culture Yard because they are first and foremost passionate about learning Chinese. And they stay because when they walk into our courtyard, they walk into a community.
In the words of Laure, a former student from France, “Culture Yard is an experience that ought to be had by all!”
We look forward to meeting you!
