Q：What is Memrise?
A：Memrise is an online learning community where you can learn almost anything in the world, entirely for free! Combining a mix of science, fun and community, learning on Memrise is not only speedy and enjoyable, but provides lasting results. Culture Yard has uploaded all of our courses on Memrise.
Q: I cannot find Culture Yard courses on my Memrise cellphone app. What should I do?
A: You can only search and add courses on your computer. Search for “Culture Yard” using the search bar on the homepage, and once you have started learning a course you will be able to see them on your cellphone app.
Q: Can I practice radicals using Memrise?
A: Yes. Although Culture Yard is not offering that course right now, you can go to Courses and search for radical to get courses other teachers have made for you.
Q: What should I do if there is no Mem attached to the word I want to learn?
A: A Mem is a visual aid to help you remember characters. If there’s no Mem attached to the word you want to learn, you can add a Mem yourself! Be creative! It will help you remember the word even better and we might even select it to be our Mem of the week.
Q: How are the courses labeled?
A: It is organized by units right now. We just changed the name into a functional one, so instead of “Unit 1” you now have “Greetings 1”.
Q: Some pictures cannot be shown on my Memrise cellphone app. What should I do?
A: It might be a problem with the cellphone display. Try the computer version instead, if you want full compatibility.
Q: There is no pronunciation/tone shown on my Memrise cellphone app. Can we change that?
A: Again, the cellphone app has limited compatibility. If you want to make full use of Memrise and the courses we offer there, we’d advise you to use the web version.
Q:Is it possible to practice sentences/grammar points through Memrise?
A: Not at the moment. Memrise is designed to practice your vocabulary and characters. We will be in touch with the web developer to see if they can do more.
