What will these classes cover?

These private 1on1 online Chinese lessons can either use the HSK 标准教程 textbooks as a base for study or can be designed around materials provided by the student. Students will engage in activities and exercises which utilize all four basic language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) with the end goal of being able to communicate in Chinese in real-world situations with ease and confidence.

Classes are conducted live via Zoom with a teacher based in China and can be scheduled at your convenience using our free online scheduling software. Flexible scheduling means that no matter where you are located, you can select class times that work with your availability and reschedule lessons if you need to.

If you choose to follow the HSK 标准教程 curriculum, PDF textbooks and workbooks will be provided.

Q: Is this an AP Chinese course?

While Culture Yard does not offer a certified AP Chinese curriculum, our private classes help equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to get a 3 or above on the AP Chinese exams.

The AP Chinese exam focuses on eight skills, six themes, three modes of communication, and 21 task models which students are expected to master. While students who take the AP Chinese exam are typically in their fourth year of Chinese study in high school, there are various pathways of study that students can take to prepare for the AP Chinese exam.
